The face of evil

Deliver Us From Evil
gets under your skin and its subject matter is much too important to be overlooked. The trailer (below) uses Johnny Cash's version of "God's Gonna Cut You Down" and one would be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn't agree with that sentiment after viewing this film. According to the website bearing the film's name, the claims made in the film are considered to be highly controversial to the Catholic Church, but they are not to the majority of the public who have been hearing about abuse and cover-ups by the church for years. The website is run specifically to address what the creator feels are controversies surround the film and currently has no outside input included.

While some websites manage to create meaningful community around an issue in a participatory experience, most end up providing a forum for "crazies and haters" to make comments and threats that they would likely never use if they were not able to hide behind anonymity. Technology offers us a sense of privacy, and detachment, even as we're sharing these things with the entire Web. The online mentality is one of entitlement and total freedom, one in which no one has ownership over anything or responsibility to behave in the manners that they would in "normal" circumstances.
